About the data

Everything on this site traces back to the game client. Here is how.

Where the numbers come from

Items are read from the World of Warcraft: Forever client tables (build 1.60.1.70753) as exported by wago.tools. For items Blizzard has not revealed in the Forever client yet, we fall back to the Classic Era client (build 1.15.9.70576) for the name and slot only, and mark them as still hidden.

The Forever client does not ship loot tables, so where an item drops is not in the data. Crafting recipes, reputation requirements, PvP ranks and faction restrictions are, and they are shown wherever they apply. Drop sources will fill in from play.

How stats are computed

Forever uses item-level budgets instead of Classic's fixed stats. Each stat is a share of the budget for the item's level, quality and slot, rounded the way the client rounds. Armour comes from the armour tables by item level, quality, armour type and slot. Weapon damage comes from the damage-per-second tables by item level and quality, spread by the item's speed and variance. We checked these against in-game tooltips before trusting them.

Provenance tags

  • New in ForeverNo item with this id exists in the Classic Era client. It was added for Forever.
  • Changed for ForeverExists in Classic, but Forever changed its level, quality, name or stat budget.
  • Carried into ForeverPresent in the Forever client tables with the same shape as Classic.
  • Still hiddenOnly the Classic Era client knows this item so far. Its Forever stats are unknown until it is seen in game.

How picks are ranked

Every loadout starts from Fit: a weighted sum of what an item gives a spec, with hand-set weights informed by Classic and adjusted for Forever's class changes. Set bonuses and procs are not scored yet. Forever removed the required level from about a fifth of its items, so a stage also admits items up to ten item levels above its cap. At Stage 60 the Dungeon-ready chapter leaves out item level 64 and above, where raid gear starts; the Raid-ready chapter admits Forever's raid tier at item level 65 and leaves out Classic raid gear above it, which is in the client but not in the game. PvP rank gear and Blizzard's own test items are left out. The editorial pass, where a person argues with the numbers, is the next step for every spec.

What is still missing

  • Loot sources, drop rates and quest names.
  • Random-suffix items ("of the Tiger").
  • Stats for items Blizzard has not revealed yet.
  • Enchants, consumables, base stats per race, and simulation-backed weights.

Report a mistake, or tell us where it drops
